About the Class
Children’s Math: From Hands to Heads to Hearts
An In-Person Course for Ages 5–8
This course is designed for children aged 5–8 to learn foundational mathematics through a practical, multi-step process: doing, talking, thinking, and feeling. Students will use hands-on tools, including Zometool, magnetic tiles, and 3D-printed manipulatives, to build things and explore mathematical ideas. A key part of the class involves students discussing their thought process in English and/or Chinese. The course is child-centered and collaborative, treating mistakes as a normal part of learning. The goal is for children to build a functional understanding of math and see how it applies to the world around them.
For Parents: We encourage you to observe and appreciate your child’s learning journey with patience. Your presence and support are valued more than instruction or intervention.
